There is something alluring about having beautiful women fall from space, only to give their adoration to one guy. Tenchi Muyo (created by Masaki Kajishima) is a lucky man to have three or more women at a time — or is he?
We find out that there is a history to Tenchi’s grandfather, a warriors legend about sealing a demon inside a cave. One day, Tenchi decides to enter the cave, accidentally releasing the demon known as Ryoko. Later we learn that Ryoko is a beautiful space pirate, upon breaking her prison cell planet, Jurai’s Princess Aeka receives a distress call. Aeka ends up having a duel with Ryoko as her ship falls to earth taking Ryoko and her little sister Sasami down with her.
Everyone survives the crash to earth and Tenchi is surprised when he finds he is actually a blood relative of Jurai, (more specifically on the royal side) and thus the space women start to take a liking to Tenchi.
Unedited versions of Tenchi Muyo feature nudity (!) and the show’s an interesting watch with smooth design. It’s no wonder why the series has such a strong following. Anime haters may find this one pretty easy to dump on, but give it a shot — it’s not so bad.
