Falling Skies Review

I’ll admit, when I first saw the promotion for Falling Skies at the theater I laughed to myself. I just couldn’t believe that they were making a show about this especially since I hate V and Battle: LA was pretty terrible. I wanted to write this review after the first episode but I thought it would be unfair so now that it’s been out for a while I think it’s due.

The plot is just like any other alien invasion TV show/movie and they jump right into the, it’s happened and most people are dead, welcome to the militia. You follow a small group of people in the 2nd Massachusetts led by Captain Weaver (Will Patton); Tom Mason (Noah Wyle) and his three sons, Anne Glass (Moon Bloodgood), Margaret (Sarah Carter, she’s hot!) and few others.

The aliens in the show look a little weird they have either have 6 legs or 224, I can’t remember. They are accompanied by mechs, bad-ass robots with huge guns and stunning abilities, they seem to be the aliens body guards and do most of the killing work. In the show the aliens are taking children and using them as slave labor. They do this by attaching a harness alien slug that seems to heal them and make them strong, at the same time it keeps the kids in line. I’m not sure yet why the aliens are using the kids as slaves, they are making them collect scrap metal. Maybe their ships are broken or they can’t get the metal from their planets. I’m sure we will find out soon.

The show is about survival and not laying down. The characters are pretty interesting to follow and it’s kept me watching. A couple of people said the aliens don’t look that great CGI-wise (Steven Spielberg is an executive producer) but I’m not complaining. If you are into drama and aliens this is a good show to watch, it so happens to be on TNT and they know drama. Sorry I had to throw that in. You can catch up and watch all the previous episodes on their website.

I’ve gotten caught up into this show and I have to say that while the show is a tad bit too ummm “7th Heavenish” at times it is very watchable and keeps you interested in seeing what happens next week. I think the CG aliens are done fairly well (especially for a TV show) and the characters are interesting enough.

    I like it.
