2013 will be the year for a lot of post apocalyptic, delayed and super hero movies. There are so many movies coming out this year but the ones that made my top 20 are the ones that you can catch me at midnight releases for. Here are the first 10 and check out tomorrow for the other half. I want to know what you are looking forward to also, so let me know if the comments or the forum!
Gangster Squad – January 11th
Originally set to release on September 11th, the film was pushed back in the wake of the Aurora theater shooting. The film features a scene where people are shot at a theater. It was rumored that the scene would be removed with something else taking it’s place but that is unconfirmed. When I first saw the trailer I was thrown off, maybe by the name or that it’s a 50’s gangster film. After seeing it again, I couldn’t wait for it’s release. And seriously, Ryan Gosling & Emma Stone, what more can you ask for?
The Last Stand – January 18th
You know who’s getting old? 80’s & 90’s actions stars. They are still getting movies and looking bad-ass, even in their old age. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as the sheriff in a small town where a criminal who is evading the law will be passing through. This is the last stand law enforcement can take before this criminal crosses the border out of the US. Johnny Knoxville also stars in what will only be a kick-ass action flick with some old jokes.
Warm Bodies – February 1st
I don’t know if you’ve read The Walking Ted or not, but this film is totally like our comic and where we were taking it. Unfortunately for us, someone wrote a book about the same thing before we came up with the idea. I swear we had no idea about this movie or the book until recently! The movie looks like a nice light hearted comedy.
Identity Thief – February 8th
Remember, Melissa McCarthy from Bridesmaids? She was like made that movie freaking hilarious? Well she steals Jason Bateman’s identiy and he decides to track her down. Hilarity ensues and we all have a good laugh!
A Good Day to Die Hard – February 14th
Remember when I was talking about old actions stars? Well check out Bruce Willis in the fifth installment of the Die Hard series. You know I was really pissed when Live Free or Die Hard released as PG-13. You bastardized the character, he didn’t cuss or smoke. This was not the John McClain I know! I’ll still watch it though becuase I loved the first two films.
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone – March 15th
Do you miss Steve Carell? I do too. Well he will be appearing with Steve Buscemi as buddy magicians who are being ousted by a younger daredevil of a magician, Jim Carrey. Comedy and magic is like the best combination ever. Don’t miss this one.
The Heat – April 5th
Melissa McCarthy is getting some work! She plays a tough cop who the FBI needs to help take down a Russian mob boss. The FBI agent working with here? Sandra Bullock. Yep. I was dying watching this trailer. This is going to be fun-eee!
Iron Man 3 – May 3rd
It’s Iron Man, he is the only reason why we have an Avengers movie and other super hero movie spin-offs. Can’t say any more than that!
The Great Gatsby – May 10th
I’ve never read the book but I want to see the movie. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire with Jay-Z doing the score, this looks like it will totally be hip for the modern day hip-hop likes. Seriously. This movie was pushed back from Christmas due to production conflicts.
Star Trek Into Darkness – May 17th
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a big Star Trek fan but the 2009 Star Trek film blew me away and I wanted more. After four long years I will get what I want!
