So I’ve been waiting for this one to come out for a long time, now. I’ve played through all of the other ME2 PDLC and enjoyed it all, for the most part. Granted, none of it has been perfect but I’ve certainly gotten my few bucks worth out of all of it.
I surmised quite some time ago that there was going to be a tie in which would revolve around the Reapers preparing their assault and I knew that it would be all about trying to slow them down or stop them. I was right as this is exactly what BioWare gave us. An opportunity to slow down the Reapers a little bit and keep them from knocking on Earth’s door for a little while.
A little while, indeed…Right up until fall ;)
The storyline for the DLC is well thought out. We learn that a scientist has discovered proof that a Reaper invasion is imminent but she’s been captured by Batarians and we have to go play galactic hero again and bust her out. Once we get to her, we learn that things are a bit more dire than we thought and we’re SERIOUSLY on the clock.
So now we have to save the girl, get the proof, stop the Reapers and flex mad Shepard nuts all over everyone and everything in our path and we have a real short time to get the hero’in done…Then comes the plot twist.
I’m not going to spoil it but I think most people who are familiar with the series will be able to figure it out pretty early on. It’s a good one, though…devilish.
All in all this DLC is just about what you’d expect for $7. It’ll take near a couple of hours to finish it (and with some of the recent FPS games going title credits to end-boss down in 6 hours, that’s a bargain) and there’s no shortage of action and adventure. I feel like I could have spent $7 in MUCH worse ways (The Town, anyone?) but there’s not much one can do for a few bucks that rates a whole lot higher.
Well…not without track marks and missing teeth, anyway.
And, by the way – for the guys at BioWare – I’m docking you a point for TOTALLY skimping on that explosion.
You know the one I mean…what, did you run out of labor dollars for the animation team? C’mon, you’re better than that.
