Oh, Larry...You're such a schmuck.

Oh, Larry…You’re such a schmuck.

Leisure Suit Larry has just been announced as the 500th game to be featured on GOG.COM, and that’s hot because Leisure Suit Larry is one of the best adventure game series of all time, from a time before time…A time before all this…

…Back in the day, there were only a couple of types of video games. We had the text based games we would play by typing in commands like “take key” or “light lantern”, like Zork, and we had our arcade style games where we had a joystick or our arrow keys and often a fire button of some sort and were able to move around without typing anything and were able to shoot and run past and jump over all manner of bad guys.

Those were fun times.

Then, some genius came up with the idea of combining the two, and I think that genius worked for Sierra Online because back in the day, they were THE. BUSINESS. They came up with the idea of combining graphical, moving, picture games with the typing to perform an action game and VIOLA! Games like Kings Quest and Police Quest were born…Along with a little gem of a game called “Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards”

That game, starring the affable (and completely useless) Larry, went on to spawn a series of half a dozen games which have contributed to at least several man-decades of fun for gamers all over the world and now all of those games are available for download on…And the whole series will only set you back $9.99.

Between all 6 of those games, you could be playing for 300 hours…for $10.

You find me something else that will keep you occupied and looking at boobs for 33 cents an hour, and I’m in. Until then, I’ll be playing it up as Larry…and if you’re smart, so will you!
