Building Oceana: The Verge’s Minecraft Pyramid – Week Five

The Library

Across from her husband’s Machinations square, BoneyNicole set out to create a college-themed campus for the pyramid’s library. Requiring scores of brick, a material that’d been completely absent in Oceana so far, Nicole, Blind_Guy23 and MooseStuff worked diligently to prepare for the space, including the acquisition of thousands of books that will line the many buildings here.

The Forest

Sandwiched between saravog’s Farm and the new Library is the Forest, a pleasant departure from the cold stone and glass treatment of the rest of the pyramid. Not only is it a fantastic location to grow and gather wood, but it’s a seemingly untouched slice of paradise. The forest will eventually feature every variety of tree available, including the gargantuan jungle plants. It’s a nice place to get away while you’re in the modern calamity that is Oceana.

Club Disqo Getting Its Groove On

While it was always in the plan to put a hot nightclub atop the pyramid, it wasn’t something we’d planned on installing right away. When Paul and Joshua Topolsky of The Verge visited the pyramid momentarily, there was no ‘chill’ spot in which people could gather and gawk. With word that we’d be having a big celebratory event on the aforementioned Oceana Day (May 19th), the rush to get it built began. I tasked Alec with its design and execution, which he had planned to model on Daft Punk’s vibrant pyramid-shaped stage from one of their tours.
