Weta Workshop Builds Valve A Real Portal Turret

Hello? Are you still there?

Many people have tried to replicate the mechanical goodness of Portal’s existentially-challenged turrets, but none have quite reached the fidelity of Weta’s new version. Shipped to Valve in a Aperture Science-themed box, the turret is pretty deluxe, as one would expect from the special effects house of Lord of the Rings and Avatar. Check out the unboxing video below!

Halo 4, Covenant Weapons, And Dubstep

Can’t tell if I’m hearing a fuel rod cannon discharging or dubstep.

It wouldn’t be a Halo game with out showing off numerous amounts of powerful weapons to fans. Halo Waypoint has recently released a not-so-exclusive video all about the Covenant’s weapon arsenal. And dubstep.

Samsung Back With Them Fighting Words At iPhone Owners

Headphone jack on the bottom? Mind blown!

Last year when the iPhone 4S was coming out, Samsung started a campaign called “The Next Big Thing is Already Here” touting the Samsung Galaxy II. They were hitting on the battery issues, screen size and the big one, 4G speeds. Well Samsung is back and this time it’s for the Galaxy S III and instead of saying you’re a hipster if you buy an iPhone 4S, they are hinting that older people are getting this phone and it’s not cool anymore. A New Trailer For The Hobbit? YES, PLZ!!!

That’s Bilbo, right there in the back…

Before there was The Lord of the Rings, there was a completely different adventure. An adventure born of the same mind, the same pen, the same genius that was J.R.R. Tolkien.

The book called “The Hobbit” laid out many of the events which led up to The Lord of the Rings and showed us many of the characters which would play a huge role in what is arguably the best series of fantasy novels in history. The books which introduced us to elves, dwarves, orcs, goblins, trolls, dragons and the grey wizard – Mithrandir, Gandalf.

Yeah, pretty much the most awesome shit EVER!

Can Obsidian Build Project Eternity On Such A Small Budget?

It all looks so big and promising, but how can they pull it off?

In case you were somehow unaware, we love covering Kickstarter projects here. Obsidian, the developer behind modern titles like Fallout: New Vegas, Alpha Protocol, and Neverwinter Nights 2 – and in a previous life, Fallout, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment – want your dollars. The mostly ex-Black Isle guys have never had a breakout hit and have really lived on bringing decent sequels to other franchises, perhaps out of respect to the talent on-board. Well, now they want to prove their worth to the world on their own merits.

Follow us on Twitter!

Today Twitter rolled out a new version of the profile featuring a larger image with your avatar on it and some information. Look familiar? It’s very Facebook Timeline-esq. Sony Unveils PlayStation 3 Slim, Uh, Slim. Double Slim? Slim Deux?

Sony Unveils PlayStation 3 Slim, Uh, Slim. Double Slim? Slim Deux?

It’s like the Slim, but slimmer.

Does your PlayStation 3 need a diet? I bought mine in 2008 before they shrunk it the first time and, well, it’s kind of a big console. Seriously, grab it or an original PlayStation 2 and you’ll realize just how gargantuan the things are. Of course, if you’ll remember the PlayStation 3 debuted to sluggish sales and at an incredible loss, so ripping out features (backwards compatibility, anyone) and shrinking the unit down to save money on individual units was probably foremost on Sony’s mind.

Did The State Department Ban A Documentary?

U CENSORED MAH DOKUMENTREEZ?!

I’m not sure if this is a true story or if it’s shenanigans so don’t blame me if this whole thing turns out to be a load of hogwash but I got an email today from a shady source which contained a press release claiming that a documentary has been blocked by the U.S. State Department due to its inflammatory nature.
