Avril Lavigne To Marry Chad Kroeger: 2002’s Coolest Headline

This is the coolest thing that didn’t happen for a long time!

Do you remember Avril Lavigne? Sk8r Boi? Yeah, that was a thing. Well, she’s getting married to the lead singer of the worst band in existence. Literally, they have some kind of metric that they grade these things by and they simply won the most loser points. The last time that I remember being interested in either of these people was right around college, but these two have realized there is little more they can accomplish in life… except each other.

The New iPhone is Most Certainly, Possibly, Will be Released on September 21st, Maybe

Apples are good for you, I’ve heard.

TechCrunch is reporting that September 21st, the new iPhone will launch. They received word from a Verizon employee who said no vacation days are available starting September 21st. I believe it. This is just like what happened on previous launches at both Sprint and Verizon and is in tune with last years announcement and release. Read the rest of this article…

Goodbye, Nintendo Power

Goodbye, Nintendo Power

Mario will live on, his magazine will not.

If you were a Nintendo fan at the peak of their powers (think: late 80s, early 90s), then Nintendo Power was probably a fundamental piece of your gaming experience on a monthly basis. (Mine was PC Gamer, because, y’know.) Equal parts editorial, fan club fare, and strategy guide, Nintendo Power was one of the first major publications for gaming and a model for others to follow, like the official publications for PlayStation and Xbox. Well, times are changing and soon Nintendo Power will cease to exist.

Combiform – A New Take On Social Gaming (UPDATED)

It’s like Kinect without the embarrassing speech features.

Update: Due to internal changes with Combiform, they have decided to withdraw their Kickstarter Campaign to rework their product messaging. Don’t worry though, Combiform has told us that they are tweaking the product and message and will bring back the Kickstarter campaign very soon! We here at FleshEatingZipper wish them best of luck and look forward to seeing them back in action!

What is the first thought that comes to your mind when you see the words “social gaming” plastered on your computer screen? Typically you’ll think of Farmville or that stupid vampire game my friends keep requesting me to play. Combiform, a social gaming console, is about to change the way everyone thinks of gaming socially – for the better.

Windows Phone To Surpass Blackberry By December, Dominate Distant Third Place

Things are coming up Ballmer!

Believe it or not, based on WMPoweruser’s calculations, Windows Phone will surpass the Blackberry platform not long after Thanksgiving. We’ve talked about plotted dominance before and didn’t quite come off as accurate, but this trajectory seems far more accurate. The summary here isn’t that Windows Phone is winning so much as Blackberry is really failing.

Can You Trust OnLive Now?

Can You Trust OnLive Now?

After the recent debacle, is OnLive trustworthy?

On Friday, we reported that OnLive wasn’t closing shop after word spread that people were packing up their things and leaving the office. Well, we were kinda right. Through a clever transfer of IPs, none of which were actually owned by OnLive, the company was actually shut down. In its place, a new company sprung up, named OnLive, entitled with the remaining assets of the original OnLive. The service, to the layman, will be completely unaffected. Confusing? Yep.

Tame GTA V “Transport” Screenshots Released

You can drive things in this game?! Who’d a thunk?

Earlier today, Rockstar Games released three different screenshots based on transportation from their baby GTA V. Exciting, right? Not really. The undistinctive images of playable vehicles surely don’t do the game justice.

Cool Runnings/Miracle Review: The Olympics For Peeps Who Don’t Watch The Olympics

More drama on ice than you can handle!

With the passing of the recent Summer Olympics in London, I feel like I missed a huge party that everyone else was invited to. The big reason behind that, really, is that I couldn’t care less. I’m partial to the winter-ized sports, where people have to try harder, bundle up tighter, and tolerate much more because they’re no longer in an optimal fitness environment. But don’t take that as too much of an endorsement: I don’t watch the Winter Olympics, either. I am, however, more than happy to watch movies based on them.

The Expendables 2 Review: Delivers on the Promise of the Original

The Expendables 2 Review: Delivers on the Promise of the Original

Sly Stallone and his merry band of grizzled ‘80s icons return for another round of fist fights, shoot outs, and explosions in The Expendables 2. I didn’t particularly care for the first movie in this franchise despite being a huge fan of the concept of that movie. The Expendables promised fantastically cheesy ‘80s action delivered by some of Hollywood’s greatest washed-up stars, but failed to deliver. The Expendables 2 finally delivers on that promise.
