E3 2012 – SimCity Eyes-On, EA And Maxis Have Stolen My Heart
I can understand why SimCity – or any in-depth strategy game – isn’t made playable at E3: there’s just too much to show in a standard half-hour block. Everyone knows I have a soft spot in my heart for the franchise, but previous iterations just haven’t raised the bar very far with fairly iterative sequels or just… weird games (SimCity Societies). With 2013’s SimCity – named simply ‘SimCity’ – EA and Maxis are about to finally reach the series’ potential. I got a look at the new city-building simulator today and I just can’t keep my lobes together because my mind was blown.

Caption This! – E3 2012 Nintendo Conference
I wasn’t able to photo bomb a single picture at this years E3. This makes me very, very dissapointed. So, I began taking pictures at the worst possible moments in spite of that. That’s right, I made these people photo bomb their own pictures. As a result, I thought it would be fun to have you guys write what you think is going on in the picture. The first out of three caption contests will be from Nintendo’s press conference. If it makes me laugh out loud, I will give you a piece of my E3 swag. BOOYA!

E3 2012 – Sphero is Spherical Fun for Your Smartphone
We got a close-up look at Sphero today, the “robotic ball gaming device” from Orbotix out of Boulder, Colorado. Sphero is a surprisingly sophisticated little remote control sphere about the size of a baseball that you control with your iOS or Android device (a version for Windows Phone is planned, they say). The device is durable, waterproof and instantly cute – Sphero can change colors thanks to an internal multi-colored LED.

Far Cry 3 Hands on With Single Player
It saddens me to say that I have not played any of the previous Far Cry games because I had a lot of fun with this game. I’m not going to lie, what originally intrigued me to the game was during the Ubisoft press conference, there were boobs! At first I had the game confused with Crysis and was like what are you talking about guys, I thought you were in some kind of special suit that allowed you to go invisible? I know, I know I need to play more games. Read the rest of this article…
Hands on With Medal of Honor Warfighter Multiplayer
While waiting in line for this demo, Keith and I both were talking about how the game looks like all the other war shooters on the market or coming out. Medal of Honor Warfighter uses the Frostbite 2 game engine so the map takes destruction. After getting briefed on what was going to happen in the demo, we got to watch a video showing the different classes that were available. Read the rest of this article…

E3 2012 – Dust 514 Hands-On
If you would’ve told me eight years ago that a complex game like EVE Online would spawn a first-person shooter tie-in, I would’ve called you crazy. I think EVE’s developer, CCP Games, would agree. Promising an experience that ties directly into that game, Dust 514 looks to take persistent science-fiction shooterin’ to a whole new level. I got some hands-on time with the PlayStation 3 shooter and I can assure you, it’s something worth ripping your gaze from Call of Duty or Medal of Honor for.
