E3 2012: Noobz World Premiere Review – By Gamers, For Gamers, For Better Or Worse
If you’re going to play (pun intended) to an audience, you may as well do it right. Blake Freeman’s Noobz debuted tonight in downtown Los Angeles a block away from the convention center that’s currently housing the world’s largest gaming expo. Many on the media side of the red carpet premiere still had E3 badges slung around their necks as they stepped up to question the actors and VIPs involved with the film. Noobz is strictly a movie for gamers. There are overt references to games and its culture. Jason Mewes wears a shirt at some point that says “gamer.” in stark white-on-black and works in a GameStop-esque retail closet. Adam Sessler plays himself. Unfortunately, in its attempt to pay tribute to the audience it represents, it doesn’t quite come together.

E3 2012 – Far Cry 3 Multiplayer Trailer
We caught a glimpse of Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3 single player during their press conference on Monday. The game is looking great, and I’m not just saying that because the trailer they showed started with some rather gratuitous nudity.

E3 2012 – Naughty Bear is a Deadly Teddy
Today, Keith and I hit up 505 Games to check out their stealth assassin game Naughty Bear, which is being re-released as an arcade title this fall. Naughty is a murderous Teddy Bear who goes on a killing spree when he doesn’t get invited to a party. Apparently, it’s like a super-simplified version of Hitman… with Teddy Bears.
Just to give you an idea of the game’s goofy, tongue-in-cheek tone, the loading screen (called “loathing” screen) is a minigame with Naughty Bear throwing knives into a helpless bear’s chest.

E3 2012 – Assassin’s Creed III Multiplayer Hands-On Impressions
I haven’t played Assassin’s Creed multiplayer before and it shows. The poor Ubisoft rep trying to talk me through the demo would always start by saying something like, “Okay, what you want to do is…” Then I would inevitably die and he’d sigh, “Um, never mind.”

E3 2012: Star Trek – Eyes On
E3, the final frontier of gaming. This is the article that explains the new Star Trek game by NAMCO BANDAI. It includes an “epic action adventure” co-op that takes place between the first film and the unannounced sequel. To boldly write an intro, completely unoriginal.

Machine Gun Preacher Review: Prophet or Profiteer?
I’ve spent some time pondering how to write a fair review of Machine Gun Preacher—this week’s Blu-ray release—and I’ve come to the conclusion that it probably can’t be done. Director Marc Forster has crafted a technically fine biopic on the controversial Sam Childers, the former drug dealing biker who converted to Christianity and initiated his own personal crusade against Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army, but what viewers take away from the film will depend entirely on their own political leanings.
