Movie Review: The Resident

The Resident

When I first heard of this movie, I really hated it. Not because I didn’t think it was going to be good but because it has Hillary Swank in it. I’ve always detested her because of her incredibly bad acting, in an equally bad role in “The Next Karate Kid” and, for some reason, I never got over that.

Now, before you go all monkeyshit on me, I know…She won an Oscar.

FINE…2 Oscars. Get off my back about it!

I still hated her. First impressions being pretty serious in my world, and all.

BUT, the movie looked like it could be good and I figured “meh, what the hell, maybe she’ll get naked” so I decided to watch it and, to be quite honest with you, I’m glad I did. Now, this isn’t a brilliant movie by any means. It’s got its up and downs just like any other thriller and I have certainly seen better but it was more than sufficient to stave off any possibility of being bored for a couple of hours.

So the story goes like this. A doctor chick is getting a divorce and needs a place to live. She finds an apartment that she falls in love with and moves in. Things seem to be going along swimmingly, with her hanging out with a new guy and getting her life on track but then her world starts getting a little creepy and it turns out that someone is rather obsessed with her…in quite the “fatal attraction” kind of way.

Now, I’m not going to go in to any kind of detail on this because I don’t want to give anything away but let’s just say that the situation gets pretty creepy.

Ok, REALLY creepy.

SO, the movie delivers a lot of suspense, a little bit of action, a lot of creepiness and a slightly blurry look at Hillary’s boobs along with a peek at her landing strip through a pair of mostly opaque panties. For those of you out there who are fans of Hillary, that may be sufficient pause-n-toss toss material so you can check it out just for that, if nothing else.

And for those of you who are fans of suspense-thrillers, the movie delivers. I enjoyed it, despite my disinclination toward Hillary Swank and it having a pretty predictable nature so I’m sure most would tend to like it as well. By all means, give this one a glance.
