Google’s ‘Heart Murmur’ Reminds Us How Dependent We Are

This picture is brought to you by a working Google!

Yesterday, all of Google’s services went dark for several minutes. So far no one has stepped forward to explain what exactly caused the outage, but there’s one thing we know for sure: we’re really dependent on Google.

New Droid Maxx Is My Next Phone, Sorry Moto X

Finally, all the things I want.

In small presentations given nationwide today – no doubt adorned by cow skulls and the dancing light of pure hellfire – Motorola and Verizon unveiled their new Droid lineup with a trio of new smartphones. If you’ll remember, I’d been searching for a replacement to my aging Galaxy Nexus and all the leaking rumors about the Moto X seemed to place it right in my wheelwell. While these new Droids seem to benefit from those leaked Moto X features, it appears the Droid Maxx may have won my heart in the end.

YouTube Videos Loading Slow? Not Loading? Try Out This Chrome Extension!

This extensions is just swell!

After my last article complaining about YouTube videos not loading, I did a bunch of research trying to figure out the issue and why it happens. I am pretty sure I found the issue and it looks to be on YouTube’s side with the way they send the video data to your browser. I’m no expert, but it looks like YouTube is sending a short burst of data depending on a quick speed check. Then every few seconds it tries to send more data and the cycle continues. Read on to see my conclusions! Read the rest of this article…

Why Can’t I Watch YouTube Videos? Help Me, Internet!

I’m sure this is an actual error somewhere.

Last week, Rob gave you some instructions on how we cleared up some YouTube slowness we’ve been experiencing at the FEZ Palace in hopes it might clear up some issues you might be having. Well, it hasn’t been too helpful for me, maybe its my computer and someone can point out issues that have been frustrating me. Let me dive a little deeper into the issue and maybe we can collaborate on something about this YouTube mess. Read the rest of this article…

The Nokia 1020 Is A Good Phone, Minus Everything About It

The Nokia 1020 Is A Good Phone, Minus Everything About It

Nokia CEO Elop was in full PR mode showing off this phone to The Verge

Nokia finally brought their show horse out: a Windows Phone with a 41-megapixel camera bolted onto the back., the Lumia 1020. In an age when 12-13-megapixel cameras are cutting edge for flagship phones, this seems a bit like overkill, but it allows for some very awesome photos from a smartphone. It’s great tech, but unfortunately, it’s the everything else about the Lumia 1020 that’s ready to doom the whole thing.

YouTube Running Slow? Here’s How To Speed It Up… A Lot!

Slow YouTube?

If you’re a gamer, and I bet you are because you’re looking at a gaming site right now, you probably watch a lot of gaming videos on YouTube like I do. There’s lots of reasons to fire up YouTube, like when a new game is announced and I need to view some trailers and research its gameplay or I realy just chill out and watch some people get trolled. Unfortunately, the service has been running really slow lately so I went out on the web in search of something that would sort me out and didn’t cost a penny.

Fortunately, I found just the thing and now YouTube videos are streaming up fast – very fast – maybe faster than I’ve ever seen them so I figured I’d share with all you fine people out there in internetland!

AltaVista is Still Around, But Only For Another Week

That was a website at one point.

Did you know that AltaVista is still around and still receives about 1 million visitors a month? Currently owned by Yahoo, AltaVista will be shut down on July 8th. AltaVista hasn’t really been anything more than a brand for the last few years as the search results use Yahoo. It’s crazy to think that in 1996, Yahoo was actually using AltaVista for its search results. Read the rest of this article…

Why Buying A New High-End Phone Every Year Makes Sense

Why Buying A New High-End Phone Every Year Makes Sense

I constantly need the future in my hand.

When Sprint downgraded, then eliminated their Sprint Premier program, I knew it was time to move on. Other carriers had done the same thing with their rewards programs for people who paid higher rates for their plans, this much I understood, but it eliminated one of the biggest reasons I stayed with Sprint once the smartphone war began to settle in for real. In reality, I’d still pay a bit more per month so I could get a new phone every year at retail price and not have to pay an Early Termination Fee to switch. The carriers will have to cede a little, but will they bite? To the point: why would you need a new phone every year, anyway?

Windows 8.1’s Marketing Is Confusing As Hell

Grumble, grumble, grumble. I hate change and updated.

Seriously. Months back, the tech media started talking about Microsoft’s Windows Blue, the next version of Windows. Didn’t Windows 8 just release? Was it that big of a flop that Microsoft needed to scramble and build the next version? Well, no. Tech ites either blew everything out of proportion or they’re still confused.
