Jet Li Busts A Dudes Ass With A Bowl Of Rice...Srsly...

This 2000 martial arts / action flick Stars Jet Li, Aaliyah and Isaiah Washington in a stylized modern remake of the Shakespeare tragedy “Romeo and Juliet”.

If you’re any kind of martial arts flick fan, you’ve got to love Jet Li. His faster-than-the-eye movements, larger than life style and quiet demeanor make him the consummate bad guy and lovable hero, at the same time…sometimes, literally (take the 2001 movie “The One” where he plays 3 disparate roles including the film’s protagonist and antagonist).

On top of that, if you’re any kind of fan of hot chicks, you’ve got to love Aaliyah. Yeah, she’s dead, now but MAN was she hot before that plane crash.

In this film we have 2 criminal families who maintain a rather tenuous business relationship. As tenuous criminal business relationships tend to do this one goes to hell in a handbasket which, naturally, results in a bunch of people getting dead.

Jet Li, who plays the part of a Chinese…ok, well, I’m not going to spoil it any more than that…Yes, he plays a Chinese guy and yes, he manages to get caught up in the mess which, naturally, results in a bunch of people getting kicked in the dick.

Throw in a generous helping of funny moments, good one liners, Aaliyah’s fine ass and tons of people getting beat up and you have all the ingredients for a damned good man-movie.

Man-Movie Score : 10

On the regular review scale, you have good acting, GREAT choreography, good cinematography, Aaliyah’s fine ass and tons of people getting beat up which make for a damned fine time, any way you slice it.

Grab some popcorn and a beer and check this one out.
