Eek! The Cat was slapped on our TV sets courtesy of Nelvana and Fox Children’s Productions. Later in my life I learned Canadian company Nelvana had owned the rights to a popular 80’s show known as the Care Bears. This explains why they had Care Bear spin-offs named “The Squishy Bearz” (I always wondered how they didn’t get sued for that, depicting the furry critters as completely incompetent. [It’s called ‘satire’, covered under fair use. Just FYI. -Ed.] Eek tries his best to help others while falling into hilarious situations, and upon showing pictures of his girlfriend people usually reply how fat she is.
Eek is most defiantly one of the funniest cartoons I ever saw as a kid, one episode in particular is actually a direct send off to the Terminator franchise. Eek’s motto is “it never hurts to help” and ironically he usually does get hurt, a lot. If you’re into over-the-top slapstick give it a shot, It’s definitely one of the 90’s best cartoons.
