This won’t come as a shock to anyone, but after grossing just over a billion dollars worldwide, The Hangover franchise is going to return with a third installment. The big question is, where will Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis end up next?
If you listened to our Monthly Caucus Podcast back in May, you know that we didn’t think too highly of The Hangover Part II. The FEZ staff agreed that the film was little more than a slick cash-in, with the entire plot of the first film more or less copied and pasted into the second. Instead of a missing tooth, it was a face tattoo. Instead of a tiger it was a monkey. Instead of the missing groom, it was a missing brother-in-law. It was virtually the same movie.
If this annoyed you as much as it did us, then Bradley Cooper has some words of comfort for you. During an interview with Graham Norton on BBC One, Bradley Cooper dropped this tidbit about the threequel.
“I think it’ll take place in Los Angeles and maybe not adhere to the structure, it might be different.”
There you have it, folks! The Hangover Part 3 might be different!
Let’s hope it is. The first film had a great concept and showed us a raunchy good time. But the second was like watching a cheap knock-off.
The third installment is currently being penned by Todd Phillips. If the billion dollar pull of the first two movies doesn’t keep him from flexing his creative muscles this time around, maybe we’ll see the Wolf Pack return in some clever and unexpected new way.
If not, then I guess we’ll just be left with another headache.
