We’re only halfway through the second season of hit zombie drama The Walking Dead, but AMC has already announced a sizeable order of episodes for season three. If you aren’t excited about this, then you need to check your pulse…
Get ready, because according to AMC today, season three will consist of sixteen fat, juicy episodes. The announcement came today during the Television Critics Association Press tour in Pasadena, California.
The series, based on Robert Kirkman’s graphic novels, started with just six episodes for season one. Season two kicked off with a bang, carrying through to a shocking mid-season finale. The second half of season two will return on Sunday, February 12 at 9/8c.
According to AMC’s blog:
“Season 2 of the critically acclaimed global hit series continues to deliver the strongest telecasts for any drama in basic cable history against Adults 18-49, as well as, top international pay-TV ratings on Fox International Channels’ (FIC) major markets.”
The Walking Dead
is up for a Golden Globe for Best Television Series and already won a 2011 Emmy for Best Makeup. Glen Mazzara has served as the showrunner Since Frank Darabont’s departure. He must be doing something right as The Walking Dead seems to be racking up more episodes than anyone could’ve guessed when the show premiered in 2010.
Here’s looking forward to many more seasons of zombie goodness.
