Let’s Talk About A Little Band Called Quartus

Posted by on June 19, 2012 at 9:57 pm

The guys from Quartus…ok so it’s not REALLY a “little” band.

I’ve recently become aware of a band called Quartus, from Omaha, Nebraska. Now, I’m usually not the type to be talking about music and I’m certainly not one to write articles about it but I have to be honest and say…They made me do it!

Actually, their sound made me do it. I’m generally into music that’s faster, harder, and louder, – Like Killswitch Engage, Slipknot, and Disturbed – but these guys have a great quality to their music. They’re clean, they have a full, robust sound and since I have to admit that I am actually a huge fan of Dave Matthews, that likely draws me to these guys because they have the same kind of feel.

So I got ahold of some music by Quartus and, as I said, I’m super impressed. It seems they’ve been playing a bunch of gigs in the Mid-West and are gaining a pretty good following, which is cool because I can listen to them now and then, in 5 years when they’re all huge rock stars I can email them and say “Hey, dudes, look at this article I wrote about you years ago…You owe me chicks!”

On a serious note, though, I’m all about supporting independent and upcoming bands. Music is what makes the world go ’round and I think it is important for all of us to sink our teeth into some solid tunes on a very regular basis so you’re going to have to check these dudes out. It’s taken some digging, on my part, but I’ve got a little bit of information about them.

These guys will stomp your head in if you don’t buy their album. And if they don’t, I will.

The band’s lineup is Bobby Frankl on vocals and guitar, Eric Haitz on guitar and background vocals, Jon Packard on bass and background vocals, Jeff Soukup on trumpet, Austin Sailors on saxophone, and Geoff Boyer on drums. The band is based out of Omaha, Ne., and will be opening for Cowboy Mouth on the 18th of August at Sumtur Amphitheater, in Papillion, NE. Prior to that, they’re headlining at the same venue on the 28th of June.

They also have a couple CD’s available, one called “So Fine” and another titled “Something Like Live” and are currently in the studio recording a third album called “Something Good is Coming”. So Fine and Something Like Live can be purchased on iTunes, so get on over there and hook it up. You’ll be glad you did.

I’m gonna drop a few of their tracks and a youtube video in here, so you can get a taste but don’t sit around and let these guys go to waste. They’re damned good and deserve some support!
