Ben & Kate have taken care of each other throughout life and while Ben is off doing whatever, Kate is living with the best mistake she has ever had, a kid. We learn that Ben just shows up at random times needing something from Kate. Not it a dead beat kind of way but just that he doesn’t invite himself kind of way and can be annoying like any other sibling.
After coming into town to crash his ex-girlfriends wedding to win her back, Ben meets Kate’s new boyfriend who he immediately feels something is off. Ben reveals to Kate that he is a douchebag that has a girlfriend. Kate helps Ben go win his ex-girlfriend back, but they are too late. After that Ben decides to stick around and help his sister to raise her kid.
I haven’t even mentioned the friends, BJ (Lucy Punch) and Tommy (Echo Kellum), who add great chemistry between the two main characters. I would like to see more of both but I think too much may bring away from the show being called Ben & Kate. The other star of the show is Kate’s daughter (Maggie Elizabeth Jones) who is not just there to be there. She is actually apart of the cast and the cast all seem to fit together.
To wrap everything up, Ben & Kate is a feel good, family-ish comedy that, if continues down this path, I wouldn’t mind watching every week.
