Slaughterhouse “Welcome To: Our House” Review

SLAUGHTERHOUSE! If you have listened to any hip-hop station in the last 4 years you’ve probably heard that screamed at the beginning, middle and/or end of a song. The group consists of Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz & Royce da 5’9″. Welcome To: Our House is the groups second studio album but the first since being signed to Shady records. I had to listen to this album a few times before I actually started liking it. Maybe it’s because most of the hot tracks have been singles, out before the album release.

After about the third listen I was able to pick up the flow of the album and appreciate everything. There is a great mix of rhythms throughout the album and I didn’t feel like I was listening to something that was too dark, hard rap or pop-y if that makes any sense. Eminem is on a couple of songs, Our House & Asylum, which kind of reminds me of D12. You are quickly taken into Coffin which is a super upbeat track featuring Busta Rhymes and then taken to a easy going track featuring Cee Lo.

My favorite track on the album, Throw It Away, features Swizz Beatz and is super catchy. Behind the hook they got someone saying something, I don’t even know. It’s just a great track to rock out to. If you are a hip-hop head you should definitely pick this album up. If you’ve only given it one go through and aren’t really feeling it, give it another listen. Like I said it took me a few listens to really get into the album and appreciate the roller coaster ride going from track to track.
