Not only will you be able to float on a Mattel Hoverboard in 2015, you’ll also be able to catch a brand new Charlie Brown movie, coming fifty years after his perennial Christmas favorite debuted. An American favorite, Charlie Brown has kept busy with bit roles in MetLife commercials, but Fox and Blue Sky Studios (the guys who bring us another Ice Age flick every few years) want to bring the pessimist with the heart of gold back in a big way. Well, there’s only three more years until you can start lining up with your blue blankets.
I have to hand it to Blue Sky though, I think their heart is in the right place. Obviously kids today aren’t going to have a clue what’s going on, but so long as they don’t disturb the perpetually-stuck-in-the-fifites, humble post-war suburbia motif, they’ll win my respect. At the same time, who knows how kids like that who would respond to that. Blue Sky hasn’t mentioned how they’re planning to reiterate the crudely animated 2D animations of old, but I have no doubt they’ve spent many years developing all the tech required to bring Charlie, Lucy, Linus, Pigpen, Schroder, and Snoopy to movie theaters in rendered 3D (and then probably in stereoscopic 3D, too.)
Excited yet? You should be.
