Zombieland is a funny, inventive movie which had exactly one flaw: there’s only eighty-eight minutes of it. No, make that two flaws: that was four years ago. Gosh, well, make that three: Ruben Fleischer, the film’s director, has been too busy not making more Zombieland in the meantime. Well, Amazon Studios, the content creation arm of that other Amazon you know, of Prime and Kindle fame, has decided to move on with creating a show. The pilot, anyway.
As part of a thirteen pilot program, Amazon is bringing a bunch of content together in hopes that viewer support will allow them to make more. In an odd twist, while Fleischer is actually working on Zombieland 2 at this very moment, the pilot will feature all of its primary characters, but recast and directed by Tucker & Dale Versus Evil‘s Eli Craig. Original Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will reprise their roles here. Funny enough, Zombieland was always intended to be a serialized TV show, so who knows where they go with it.
