Oh, this challenge was so much fun. The Strip Search contestants are locked in a basement (okay, it’s not locked) around some folding tables to build Con displays. If you’ve never been to a Con before, it’ll all make sense super quick as each artist must assemble a bunch of Penny Arcade merchandise (normally, their own), price it and present it – and themselves! – with authority.
With ten years of retail under my belt, this was a fun exercise. I imagined how my space would unfold as I’ve done hundreds of times before. There were certain parameters that Khoo and Penny Arcade’s merch manager Bryan didn’t seem to unveil as they judged their tables, like the allocation of space, usage of pricing, so forth, but all-in-all, even the most inexperienced came out pretty well. (I was partial to Katie’s booth, her signage in particular.) In fact, they all did so decently that I could feel Monica’s pain as the winner in picking two people to be losers.
Seeing Maki and Amy on the next show will actually be very fun to watch as neither have been judged on full artistic skill yet. Unless Maki screws up somehow, I don’t really see Amy emerging at the Search Haus.
Unless, of course, they can both of them and bring back Alex.
