That’s right…in Mass Effect 3, The Citadel – the center of galactic commerce and politics – will be making a return to the game.

If you are anything like me, you hated the fact that The Citadel was all but stripped from Mass Effect 2. I really missed running around, carrying on, listening to conversations and getting involved in tiny sub-plots. I missed the marketplace and the seedy bars and the strippe…uhm…the Quazar machines!
For it to be turned into an intragalactic habitrail with a few little shops and the occasional mission was hurtful. I mean it really wounded me. I cried for days.
OK, I didn’t really cry but I did get a little misty. Now this isn’t to say that it ruined ME2, because it didn’t; It just took a really fun part of the game away.
So when I heard that Bioware is reintroducing The Citadel and that it’s allegedly going to be a much more integral part of the game than it was in ME2, I got all giddy…maybe even a little moist in the trousers.
They even announced that a Citadel mission which was cut from ME2 will be played out in ME3.
Mac Walters, lead writer had this to say about the mission:
“There was a Mass Effect 2 plot that was a kind of callback to the first Mass Effect that was going to be on the Citadel, and we cut it. But now it’s made a resurrection in Mass Effect 3, so I’m happy, but I can’t say what it is. That’s the nice thing about trilogies, sometimes you get a second chance.”
Mac also admitted that he’s grown tired of working on the Mass Effect trilogy, after 7 years but that he would consider revisiting it in the future.
Now I’m all excited to see the new Citadel…and the Normandy 3? I HOPE SO!!!
