BioWare Applies A (Broken?) Patch In Yet Another Off-Cycle Server Takedown

BioWare took down their servers again last night to apply another patch, this one intended to fix a bug in the PVP system but it seems the patch may not have worked.

Oh well, at least they didn’t take them down on a Friday night again.

Yeah, the servers went down again Thursday morning at 0200 central time for a patch which was intended to fix a bug in which players engaged in fighting on Ilum would be assured of receiving valor and quest progression for every legitimate kill they scored. Unfortunately it seems the patch may not have done what it was supposed to do.

Here are their VERY sparse patch notes, covering what they took 4 hours to do.

Killing players on Ilum will now consistently grant Valor and mission credit as intended.

Well, according to a bunch of the people *I* was pvp’ing with on Ilum today, the patch didn’t work as intended and a number of players are still getting no credit for some of their kills. It seems that when this happens, the only thing one can do to fix the bug is to die. Of course, this sucks if you don’t want to die.

So one has to wonder what is going on there at BioWare. They keep releasing updates on a very regular basis, which is a very good thing. On the other hand, it seems each patch they release breaks something, which is a very bad thing.

At some point, they’re going to have to sort that out.

In the mean time, we will just keep getting no valor when we roll the pubs in Ilum.
