We just got out of the Ubisoft press briefing and they had a lot of good stuff to show us. From Wii U titles like Rayman Legends and Zombi U (Both of which got high pitched squeals of delight from the fat beardy guy just to the left of us), to multi-platform titles like Assasin’s Creed 3 and Splinter Cell Blacklist, it looks like Ubisoft is staing up to have one hell of a release schedule.
The show-closer, which hasn’t been given a release date, as yet, was pretty impressive. Read on to find out more about Ubisoft’s upcoming title: Watch Dogs.
I don’t even know how to classify this game. It’s a TPS like GTA or GOW but it’s dark…really dark.
The idea is that you are in control of a character called Adrian Pierce who is, in turn, in control of the computer which runs an entire city.
As part of the intro story, they talked to us about a hacker who shut down a good portion of the Eastern Seaboard by depositing a virus into the control systems of the electric grids, causing a massive blackout. They talked about comptuers monitoring vital systems and how this would serve to stop this sort of Tom-foolery from happening in the future. Then they talked to us about all of the data that would be collected. A vast cornucopia of personal, private information being cataloged and stored, covering everyone in the city.
Then they talked to us about Adrian…A man with a seriously violent history who now has control of the system.
They played through the first part of the game, which included a good, old fashioned assassination.
The thrill seems to be in the control…the control you have over the game world…the control you have over people.
Also hinted at was co-op multiplayer between several people.
There isn’t a whole lot of media available yet but we have been given access to some screenshots, which I gladly share with you, below.
Enjoy.

Yeah…sex…
