While THQ seems to be in a position to need financial aid here soon, that’s not stopping the company from putting up a smattering of games from its recent catalog to help charity (or not, you decide!) for the price of… well, you decide that, too. How good are THQ’s offerings? Pretty darn good.
While I wasn’t a huge fan of its sequel, you can’t really cry much paying for so little for Darksiders, a violent Zelda-ish platformer in which you play War, a horseman (of the fabled Four) pinned for starting the apocalypse. I didn’t get around to playing Metro 2033 (although now I should!) but this atmospheric shooter from beyond the Iron Curtain has a cult following and an eagerly-anticipated sequel. Red Faction: Armageddon is probably the weakest of the lot and while I would have definitely preferred to have Guerrilla in its place, for relatively cheap, you probably can’t go wrong. The THQ bundle also includes three standalone Company of Heroes games from Homeworld developer Relic. There’s plenty of WWII, European theater strategy gaming in these titles to last you a long time.
If you’re prepared to pay more than the average purchase price for the bundle, you’ll also get Saints Row: The Third, a game I can’t say enough good things about and my personal 2011 Game of the Year. On top of the aforementioned titles, you also get a number of their soundtracks, too. This bundle expires in less than 13 days, so get on it!
