Yesterday Sony announced a press event on February 20th. The teaser shows off the button icons from the controller. We were hoping that we would see the next generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft last year even though we knew it was far fetched. We definitely know that this is the year for them both to be released especially after seeing this press event scheduled with “see the future” as the . Lets take a look at some of the facts and of course the rumors.
It will be announced on February 20th and shown off heavily at E3 this year. We can expect it to come out in time for the holidays in the US and Japan although it may be delayed in the UK. There will be an updated EyeToy that may or may not be bundled with the console.
Code named Orbis, the PS4 is thought to boast an AMD 1.6 GHz 8 core processor with 4GB of GDDR5 RAM. It’s also rumored to continuously record the last 15 minutes of gameplay with out performance issues to be able to edit and share with friends. The controller wont be much of a redesign except for the start button area which is supposed to be a touch screen display. I’m happy to hear that the controller wont be radically different, I think we have finally gotten to a point where the controller has been the same for so long and it works well.
No word on pricing or drives specs. This year is going to be an epic year for gaming!
