Is The World Ready For ‘Portal R&D’, A Sitcom-style Web Series?

It's funny because it's true.

It’s funny because it’s true.

It wasn’t long into the new teaser for Wayside Creations’ new Portal-based web series that I thought I was watching a corny facsimile of Better Off Ted, a series that starred a multi-national conglomerate and its expanse of wacky experiments. Portal seems to provide plenty of material for such a series as this new show – aptly named Portal R&D – takes place before whatever crazy cacophony got Aperture’s labs shut down in the first place. I’ve included the trailer below as well as a link to the group’s original ground-breaking work, Fallout: Nuka Break.

Fallout: Nuka Break changed my opinion of what to expect quite a bit. It’s well shot, it’s kinda funny, and the acting is pretty terrible, but it was endearing. I’d known of the short before, and I don’t know about you, but the words ‘fan film’ do not inspire much confidence. Portal R&D begins its run on Machinima starting March 15th.
