Sony Can’t Catch a Break [UPDATED]

Posted by on May 2, 2011 at 4:09 pm

Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) is down right now. Sony says on their site “In the course of our investigation into the intrusion into our systems we have discovered an issue that warrants enough concern for us to take the service down effective immediately.” SOE handles all of Sony’s MMO games like DC Universe, Everquest, Star Wars Galaxies and Planetside. Sony is promising an update later today, we’ll see.

UPDATE: It looks like almost 13,000 credit cards were compromised. Check out the SOE website for more details.

UPDATE 2: Damn Sony, well it looks like it was actually over 24 million credit cards, names, addresses, emails, genders, date of births, login ID and hashed passwords according to the Wall Street Journal

  • FAIL….again ?

    • Yeah, they not doing very good right now, lol.

  • Johnny

Whatever is happening behind the scenes, I’ll bet it is every bit as cool as that movie Hackers. “They’re going after the Kernel!”

  • “over 24 million credit cards, names, addresses, emails, genders, date of births, login ID and hashed passwords” …Ouch.
