Hulu Face Match Just Blew My Mind

I noticed Hulu rolled out a new video player on my account and and decided to check it out. When I dug into the settings I saw an option for “face match” with an on/off toggle and a learn more link. What is this, I got to know.

What it is, is face recognition of the actors in the video you are watching. Point your cursor to the face, it pauses the video and shows you a pop-up with their name, quick bio, link to Wikipedia and links to follow them on Twitter or like them on Facebook. How cool is that? There has been so many times where I’ve wanted to know who a particular actor was and would look up the episodes on IMDB and dig through the cast list.

Oh, so that’s what her name is?

After digging I found this wasn’t a new feature, it looks like it came out in December but it’s new to me and probably many others out there that use Hulu. Even though it’s not available for all videos it’s the coolest thing to come out of Hulu Labs besides Hulu. Here’s more info on it if you’re curious.
