I guess it shouldn’t come as a surprise now that the iPhone release schedule has been righted following the release of the 4S, but rumors are going around that the iPhone 5S (the “tock” iteration of the major upgrade) is being produced on a component basis at this very moment. Screens, frames, antennae, everything – all are being prepared for a late summer release, which fits in line with the 4S and 5 launches.
Even with a new version of iOS somewhere in the pipes, it seems like this will be a minor iteration amongst what has been a series of minor iterations to the iPhone. The source says that there’s little to no retooling at the factory level, so like its 4S forebear, it’ll be virtually the same form as the 5. At a time when the demands on Apple are at their greatest and the company is no longer seeing many new iPhone purchasers, let’s hope they’ve got something more dangerous up their sleeve.
