It’s been almost five months since Windows 8 launched and the ecosystem is still suffering a bit. I love crappy games and half-assed Metro (sorry, Modern UI) apps as much as the next guy, but today that desperation clears up just a small amount. That’s right: Twitter has brought us a native app.
It’s elegant, clean and has a very handy snap view for your desktop or tablet. You’ll never have to worry about those clunky, crash-happy third-party clients (sorry, MetroTwit) when you can have the real deal at this very moment. To be frank, this has given me my first reason to open the Windows 8 store in weeks. A simple sign-on brings you into the system and the app is snappy, loading photos quick as well. Strangely, editing your profile still opens a browser tab, which is irritating.
Ultimately, it’s a bit spartan for what I need, but it’s probably enough for everyone else.
