Communication is vital for any company, particularly a startup like ours, so in our earliest days, we knew we needed a good cross-platform communication tool. Kik Messenger filled in and we’ve been using it ever since. A mere five months after adding app “cards” to their messenger to share sketches (usually of poop and butts) and videos, Kik is now reporting they’ve hit 50 million users.
This works out well for Kik because they’ve now got to hold onto that mindshare against much bigger companies like Facebook and Google who are actively trying to steal it. Kik’s apps are driving a wedge between them and their competition and will only grow more impressive as the number becomes greater and includes more sophisticated fare like games (one, Squared, already exists in the app). Still, we wish Kik all the best as they continue to fuel our regular discussions about virtually anything, like our pictures of butts.
