A “Draw Something” TV Show? Please, No.

My response to anything Zynga related.

My dislike for social gaming goes beyond anything comprehendable (NSFW). Well, guess what? It’s about get even more distasteful. Zynga has partnered up with CBS to air a reality show based on one of the shittiest mobile games ever — Draw Something.

Why do I hate Draw Something let alone social gaming? First of all, I can’t stand gaming “socially”. As soon as my facebook shares to everyone that I’m playing a new game, invitations from people I forgot existed pop up. Then it becomes this huge awkward experience where we play the game but never once ask, “Hey, how’s it going?” It guiltily forces me to go outside of the game and strike a conversation with someone I really didn’t want to talk to in the first place. That’s essentially what happened with Draw Something. Oh, and now CBS has done it again. A Draw Something TV show?

“Each week, teams of celebrities and everyday users will test their skills in front of a studio audience to earn money and big laughs. Viewers can also play along at home for a chance to win prizes and compete with the celebrities.” Embassy Row, Ryan Seacrest Prods. and Sony Pictures TV are producing, with Adam Sher exec producing alongside Seacrest and Davies. CBS has brought hit digital properties to primetime before. Its comedy series $#*! My Dad Says was based on a popular Twitter feed.

Shit My Dad Says was such a hit, why would they not bring another digital property to primetime? There’s no set date on when this show will be aired. Hopefully it’ll fall into production limbo and never see the light of day.
