I’m proud to present another gameplay with commentary video for you mutha’ FEZZERS. This time I bring you Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime with the Challenge Pack DLC — which came out yesterday. Review and video after the break!
My lips quivered as a tear dropped from my eye when news broke about Sanctum of Slime in December. Why would such a hardcore fan of the series be so sad? I knew exactly what this game was — milk from the GB teet.
Unfortunately, the actors from the movie do not accompany this game like the epic blockbuster that was released in 2009. In fact, no voices are heard unless they come from the ghosts and ghouls. Did that stop me from buying the $10 game? Hell no. I love Ghostbusters, even if the product is carried out horribly — it’s my childhood we’re talking about here.
Look at the boring specs of the DLC in smaller font:
- Arcade Challenge: Designed for seasoned gamers, Arcade Challenge gives players a limited number of lives to see how their skills line up on a distinct Global Leaderboard. Players run through 5 of the game’s most challenging levels in single player mode and once the lives are up, the game is over. Player scores are automatically posted to a new real-time Leaderboard.
- Lonely Hero: Players can select any level they have unlocked and start from there but this time you are on your own – no co-op, no friendly teammates- just one player to combat the waves of the paranormally possessed.
Spoiler: I didn’t make it this far.
When SoS popped up in April, I bought it without blinking. I also played without blinking. Perhaps that’s why I stopped playing. Or maybe because it was incredibly frustrating and wanted to falcon punch the living crap out of my computer. Regardless, when I heard about the DLC, I had no choice but to purchase it. Thinking that the Challenge Pack would bring hours of replayability to SoS was a dream– no, nightmare come true. Yes, I said it. This game and DLC is a nightmare. If you don’t believe me, watch the video…
So you’re probably wondering why I gave it a 5/10. Come on, it’s Ghostbusters. The franchise holds a special place in my childhoods heart! If it had been some random unknown piece of shit, I would have wiped my ass with it. Needless to say, I still wiped my ass with GB: SoS. Le tear.
