Star Wars : The Old Republic / The Galactic Cold War
And this is where we are, now. 10 years into the galactic cold war, the events of Star Wars : The Old Republic begin to unfold. What happens from here is completely up to you, the player, to decide. We know that the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire are mean-mugging each other from different sides of the galactic dividing line and the situation threatens to break out into open warfare at any time.
Each side engages the other in small scale battles, both directly and by proxy and tensions continue to escalate as the eternal foes constantly strive for superior positioning – moving, posturing, threatening…
The Jedi were unable to stay on Coruscant due to overwhelming public mistrust of them after the Republic Senate blamed them for the loss of the war so they moved back to their home world, Tython, which was found intact by Satele Shan in the early years of the war.
On the other side of the coin, the Sith Emperor wanted total domination of the galaxy and handed control over to the Dark Council which was a group of 12 Sith Lords who were responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Empire while he disappeared to parts unknown to work on secret projects.
Now, what will you do?
Will you play the part of a Jedi Knight, trying to uphold the values of peace, justice and the way of the light side of the force? Will you be a Republic trooper, fighting valiantly against the Sith and their Empire, hoping you can save lives and bring an end to the conflict?
If not, will you play the role of a Sith Inquisitor, bending the force to your will and laying a swathe of destruction in your path, destroying the enemies of the Empire, wherever they are to be found? Will you be an Imperial Agent using stealth, deception and trickery to manipulate those around you before finally revealing yourself and your true nature, just before ending their life?
What path you choose is yours to decide and whether you decide to follow the path of light or darkness, you’re sure to be in for one hell of a ride. Jump over to the next page for the official review.
