Look, I get it. Rovio is trying to conquer the world. They’ve made exactly one successful franchise, populated it with similar titles, and they’re taking their success all the way to the bank and beyond, to the burger joint behind it. But the Finnish game-maker knew there was still virgin territory to exploit Angry Birds in, and they’ve found the final frontier: home consoles. Excited? Woo…
Believe it or not, Rovio has been making games for almost a decade under the Relude banner, changing their name to Rovio in 2005. They released Angry Birds at the tail end of 2009 and have since become, well, Angry Birds the studio. I don’t know about you guys, but three straight years working on multiple iterations of the same property would drive me crazy. I don’t even know how Bungie did it for as long as they did. With Rovio having reached a billion downloads of the bird-slinging entertainer, I think it’d be great if they started spreading their wings. Y’know?
As such, bringing Angry Birds, Angry Birds Rio, and Angry Birds: Space to my Xbox just seems sad. You’ve done all this before. Aren’t you tired of it, yet? Do you really want to be that guy who picks this up from a shelf? On a disc? You can do better, so can Rovio.
