It’s no surprise to see that Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has some zombies tagged along for the epic ride. I mean, it’s like their thing now. However, unlike the previous zombie modes, this years iteration takes blastin’ heads off to a whole new level.
Destroying a zombie never gets old; at least that’s what the developers at Treyarch believe. And there is some truth to that. However, you can only do so much to change that classic zombie style. From the looks of the trailer, the new zombie mode breathes a puff of fresh air into an already dead genre. (See what I did there?)
Now, I could be wrong, but I don’t believe there’s a game out where the characters main objective is to hunt down zombies. This version includes a group of diverse characters that drive around in a heavily armored vehicle, eliminating the non-living. It’s a cool premise for those who aren’t into the horror versions of games (ahem, me). But will it take away the frightening aspect that brings its followers to the genre? Will driving to the same maps over and over feel repetitive and hopeless?
