As if by some miracle, Silicon Knights will be removing their current games from the shelves. What? Let’s be honest, you’ve probably never played a game developed by them. All of their projects to date have been nothing but giant whiskey-dicked flops. The crew behind Silicon Knights aren’t destroying their games because they want to, although I’m sure it’s been on their to-do list for awhile.
Remember when Too Human came out? Yeah, no one does. And that saddens me. Too Human was slated as this huge epic trilogy that never came to existence. This is why I am not saddened that every unsold copy will be thrown into an incinerator. So what’s the deal? Why are they being ordered to destroy their games?
If you’re unfamiliar with this shit-show of a story, Epic and Silicon Knights got into a huge pissing match over the Unreal Engine license. They bitched and moaned about each other for 5 freakin’ years. Epic Games ended up defeating Silicon Knights in court and received a generous reward of 4.5 million dollars. But wait, there’s more! Epic also blamed Silicon for stealing secret Unreal Engine codes while calling it their own.
After realizing how juvenile the case was, the court ordered Silicon Knights to destroy games using the code for wasting everyone’s time. But wait, there’s more!
Remember when Silicon Knights received a federal loan claiming it would create jobs and next gen games? After several lay offs and poorly received games, Silicon Knights is now expected to start paying off the 2.5 million that amounted to the recently recalled games. Ouch.
