Square-Enix had intended to bring the trailer for their reboot of stealth-genre favorite Thief tomorrow, but we’ll let it slide. We got excited when the game was finally unveiled last month and now that we have some motion to match the notion, we’re even moreso.
While the trailer is all CGI – similar to how Square-Enix doled out teases of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the cyberpunk action-RPG from the same studio – it informs of us a pretty sophisticated take on the series that looks to include far more civilians and more sophisticated breaches than ever. The last game in the series, Thief III: Deadly Shadows, launched in 2004, an era before Assassins Creed changed how stealth action handled. You won’t need to kill anyone in Thief, but having what looks like far more resources to pull off heists gets my imagination rolling.
