Goodbye Windows Live Messenger, You Were So Awesome

Memories…

When I started working over at TeamXbox, I was told that using AOL Instant Messenger was super lame and that MSN Messenger was the super righteous. This was a decade ago and AIM is still an incredibly popular reason to claim you have an Aol account. MSN Messenger had many more features than AIM, tied to your Hotmail account, and all my friends were using it. Well, times change…

It hasn’t been officially announced yet, but Microsoft has been working hard to migrate Windows Live accounts (which MSN Messenger became) over to Skype, which is something everyone uses. As the years progressed, all of my friends started using everything else on the internet to communicate. Nowadays it’s Facebook Messenger – an advantage of having a billion users – and text messages. In the case of the staff of FEZ, we use Kik Messenger anyway. Kelly’s the only person I’ve even used Microsoft’s Messenger program with in the past few years at all.

Well, I’ll miss you, Windows Live Messenger. Even if you’ll still exist in Skype form, it just won’t be the same…
