I kind of saw this coming, a lawyer in California filled a lawsuit against Microsoft for false advertising, seeking class action status. The lawsuit is regarding the new Surface and that they are marketing it as 32GB and 64GB but the available space is only 16GB and 45GB respectively.
I brought this up to Nick and he brushed it off as, Windows being big. I see Nick’s point but we are technology experts. The layman is going to expect only a few GB’s being taken up by the operating systems just like on Apple and Android products. Most are/will be surprised to see 16GB taken up on a “tablet.” Luckily, you can expand the storage, but some devices like the iPhone and the Nexus 4 don’t have that option.
It will be interesting to see where this goes. What do you think about this? Should the advertised space be what is available or do you think that is up to the consumer to figure that out on their own?
