I don't know what that thing is but BY GOD it's ugly!

I don’t know what that thing is but BY GOD it’s ugly!

Yesterday, Nick published an article about Elder Scrolls Online preparing for closed beta. In that article, he included the latest cinematic trailer, which shows some really serious and super violent (oh so sexy) shenanigans going on between what turns out to be 3 different factions in the Elder Scrolls universe.

That’s great, but why are they fighting with each other? I have a nice dev video that explains it all.

For those of you who don’t know about the Elder Scrolls series of games, it’s time to come out of the dark ages…really. (Or, as Kelly would put it, “the king times”.) The Elder Scrolls, by Bethesda Softworks, is a long standing and super-amazing series of adventure/rpg games which includes titles such as Morrowind, Oblivion and, of course, the massive hit Skyrim. In fact, there has been a LOT of titles in the series…5 of them to be exact, with expansions and major DLC bringing the toal number of releases to *18*, to date…Don’t believe me? Here they are:

The Elder Scrolls: Arena, The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire, The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal, The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon, The Elder Scrolls Travels: Stormhold, The Elder Scrolls Travels: Dawnstar, The Elder Scrolls Travels: Shadowkey, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, The Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion, The Elder Scrolls IV: Knights of the Nine, The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, The Elder Scrolls V: Dawnguard, The Elder Scrolls V: Hearthfire, The Elder Scrolls V: Dragonborn.

Note that this doesn’t include “GOTY” editions and other re-releases.

TES Online will be the 19th release in the series that everyone has come to know and love.

With all of those releases, it stand to reason that there would be a major back-story to the whole thing…A rich and attractive lore that defines the times and tells us the story of how we got to where we are…And what do you know…There is.

That’s what this video is about; The story so far. The tale that leads to the present day and the calsh fo the 3 alliances which is central to the game.

Watch, and learn.
