E3 2012 – A First Timer’s Perspective
E3 - Heaven For Gamers
For years I’ve dreamed of being able to go to E3. The Electronic Entertainment Expo. Mecca. Heaven for a gamer. Ever since I first heard of it, 15-odd years ago, I wanted to find a way to get there and get in.
Unfortunately, I was never able. I was too busy working, I wasn’t an employee of one of the game retailers and I wasn’t a member of the press so there was just no way I could get there and justify gaining admission to the biggest gaming expo in the world.
E3 2012: What’s Wrong With E3? Other People.
Now that another E3 is done and over, it seems fitting that the media collectively bellows about how much they were let down and irritated by the whole thing. If you’ve been listening to our podcasts or reading our articles, you knew from afar that this show would be on cruise control as publishers are saving a lot of their talent and resources for next-gen consoles that won’t be announced until next year’s show. This was my fourth E3, but my first as media. So what was really the issue with this year’s show? The same as most any other year: the people who don’t need to be there.

Blast it! No one made me laugh. Don’t get me wrong, I was quite amused by the two comments. So here, take another shot. Same rules as last time. Write a caption that best fits the awkward facial expression or body position. Try to win some of my E3 swag — if you dare. Read the rest of this article…
E3 2012 – Age of Wushu Hands On
In a world of MMORPG’s, there’s one game that strives to stands out above the rest. Age of Wushu does just that in its own unique way.
E3 2012 – XCOM: Enemy Unknown Eyes-On – Can It Live Up To The X-COM Name? Yep.
I’m not sure how it happened, but this E3 was more than happy to pull at my heart strings with reboots of my favorite franchises. My most anticipated title going into the show was XCOM: Enemy Unknown, a reimagining of my favorite game of all time by Firaxis, known for their landmark Civilization games. After a presentation of the game and a (very) brief interview, I thankfully walked away with more answers than questions. I’m now confident that XCOM: Enemy Unknown, nearly twenty years removed from its forebear, can win a place in my heart.
How to Get People to Crowd Your Booth & Treating People Right at E3
E3 is a sausage fest. Mostly. I know that isn’t much of a surprise to me or anyone else but I thought I would point it out. So if you are trying to get a bunch of people at your booth next year, here’s what to do. Read the rest of this article…
E3 2012 – Hands On With Planetside 2 From Sony Online Entertainment
Planetside 2, from Sony Online Entertainment. How did it stack up?
Yeah…that happened…Planetside 2 got its hands all over me today and I, in turn, did some handling of IT, as well.
I made my way to the Sony Online Entertainment booth, where I got to go hands on with a few different titles, including Wizardry online, D.C. Universe Online and, of course, Planetside 2.
So what were my thoughts?
E3 2012 – SimCity Eyes-On, EA And Maxis Have Stolen My Heart
I can understand why SimCity – or any in-depth strategy game – isn’t made playable at E3: there’s just too much to show in a standard half-hour block. Everyone knows I have a soft spot in my heart for the franchise, but previous iterations just haven’t raised the bar very far with fairly iterative sequels or just… weird games (SimCity Societies). With 2013’s SimCity – named simply ‘SimCity’ – EA and Maxis are about to finally reach the series’ potential. I got a look at the new city-building simulator today and I just can’t keep my lobes together because my mind was blown.

I wasn’t able to photo bomb a single picture at this years E3. This makes me very, very dissapointed. So, I began taking pictures at the worst possible moments in spite of that. That’s right, I made these people photo bomb their own pictures. As a result, I thought it would be fun to have you guys write what you think is going on in the picture. The first out of three caption contests will be from Nintendo’s press conference. If it makes me laugh out loud, I will give you a piece of my E3 swag. BOOYA!
E3 2012 – Gears of War: Judgement Behind Closed Doors
In case you haven’t heard, there’s more chainsaw gunnin’ and Locust killin’ heading our way with Gears of War: Judgement, a prequel to the blockbuster Gears franchise slated for release on Xbox 360 next year. We sat down with Cliff Bleszinski of Epic Games and Adrian Chmielarz of People Can Fly to get all the details.
