October is a big month for Microsoft. Redmond has a new operating system on the horizon, new Windows phones to launch, Surface tablets to sell, and a new Xbox dashboard update to push out. Amid all the hoopla, let’s not forget about little ol’ Xbox Music, Microsoft’s rebrand of Zune. Set to officially launch on October 26th, Xbox Music will offer free ad-supported music streaming, among other things.
Nokia Takes a Colorful Swipe at Apple in New Ad

Nokia has joined Samsung and other smartphone makers in cracking wise about Apple’s mama. In the following animated ad released yesterday on YouTube, Nokia pretty much calls Apple’s base of über loyal iPhone users a bunch of soulless drones. Yeah, that’s a HUGE stretch, I know.
HBO Renews Boardwalk Empire, Loves Gangsters

Sometimes, it seems as if we create laws just so we can make TV shows about people violently breaking those laws, all for our entertainment. Such is the case with Boardwalk Empire, the Prohibition-era crime drama starring the adorably snaggle-toothed Steve Buscemi.
If you’re one of those people who loves to get down and dirty with dramatized period crime shows, then rejoice. HBO has just renewed Boardwalk Empire for a fourth season.
