Movie Review: Battle: Los Angeles
I really wanted to like this film. I did. I was imagining this would be Hollywood’s first genuine attempt at an X-COM film in which humanity must band together to form a militarized response against a hostile alien threat. Instead, Battle: Los Angeles is a mostly unsatisfying look at what could’ve been an epic alien warfare film.

“Puss In Boots” Really DreamWorks?
It’s regrettable to say that DreamWorks has released a trailer for the upcoming Shrek spin off, Puss in Boots. The film will star the inevitable Antonio Banderas, Walt Dohrn, and Zeus Mendoza. Puss in Boots takes everything that you’ve already seen four times, re-plaster itself “new”, and remind us all that studios will never learn from their mistakes as the story leads up to the first movie. Yes, ladies and gentlmen, it’s a purrquel.
Movie Review: Rango
I wasn’t that interested in Rango when I first took my kids to see it. The previews made me think it was a weird western starring a weird lizard surrounded by a bunch of weird creatures. I was wrong. Rango is all of those things, it’s true, but it is also so much more.
Tomb Raider Reboot Slated for 2013
GK Films, which produced The Town, The Tourist and Rango have acquired the film rights for Tomb Raider from Square Enix in December 2010. Graham King said “We are very excited to be rebooting what is already a hugely successful film franchise and continuing the TOMB RAIDER phenomenon.” Paramount made the last two films starring Angelina Jolie in 2001 & 2003 and they grossed $432 million worldwide. My Favoritest Music Videos Ever? Yep.
It seems like the implosion of the music industry has made the art of the music video sort of a dead statement, but it’s not like they didn’t have a good run. Here are some of my favorite music videos over the years, starting with Number Five up top, Justice’s “DVNO”. Directed by So-Me, Machine Mollie, and Yorgo featuring a wide variety of logos and title cards that, if you’re a child of the 80s, you’ll vaguely recognize in their repurposed versions. Stay tuned as we march on to the top 4 after the break! [I completely apologize ahead of time for either the poor quality or ad-filled versions of these links!]
Movie Review: Death Of A Ghost Hunter
Having a bit of an interest in scary movies and freaky ghost stories, I sat down to watch this 2007 indy release which was a selection at the Phoenix Film Festival and won the 2007 New York City Horror Film Festival award for best screenplay.
Movie Review: Stan Helsing
The following review was written by guest contributor Sam.
From the people who brought us Scary Movie comes this horrific spoof. It’s Halloween night and Stan (Steve Howey) is nearing the end of his shift at the local video store, when his boss tells him he needs to deliver videos to the owners house before going to a Halloween party or he’s fired. Stan and his friends miss the turn to get to his destination throwing them in the midst of a ghost town as they are now hunted by famous horror movie icons.
The Undiscovered Country Is The Best Star Trek Film Ever Made, Period.
You simply aren’t ready for a nerd-out of this magnitude.
Movie Review: Take Me Home Tonight
Young Americans…Kids in America…wait, now it’s called Take Me Home Tonight? Ok, whatever the name is, this movie is like totally retro! The 80’s romantic-ish comedy follows Topher Grace, Anna Farris, Dan Folger and the lovely Teresa Palmer on a radical adventure that you’ll soon forget!
Get a shallow review after the break!
