Dynamite Jack (Android) Review: You’re Sam Fisher, But With Bombs

Watch for those troopers or it’s an instant death!

With the recent debut of a new Humble Bundle, I decided to dig in and check out some awesome Android games as well as help out charity. The biggest unknown was Dynamite Jack, a game that looked like Bomberman, and to an extent it is, but further, it’s a satisfying puzzle game from the guys who brought us GalCon, another great mobile game.

Gore Verbinski’s Tron-like Marble Game For Kinect, ‘Matter’, Is No More

Gore Verbinski’s Tron-like Marble Game For Kinect, ‘Matter’, Is No More

It’s so shiny! Or, it was.

One of the coolest games to be announced at Microsoft’s E3 conference last year was Matter, a Marble Blast Ultra-esque game with a severe sci-fi theme and echoes of Portal. The game was being produced by Gore Verbinski’s new game studio Blind Wink and was being designed specifically for Kinect with a goal of eliciting emotion, which is a pretty heady premise for a game. Perhaps too heady, because the game is now cancelled without a frame of gameplay footage ever being shown.

Boy Scouts Will Be Able To Design Games, Earn A Merit Badge For It

The Boy Scouts join the future! Almost!

I was a Boy Scout for four years and we never had anything this cool. The hundred-plus year old organization for boys and young men has been receiving a lot of heat for its now-controversial stance on letting gays into troops across the country, but there’s nothing controversial about a merit badge about game design. One has to wonder though: what took so long?

New Far Cry 3 Patch Includes Enhancements to Both Single and Multiplayer

I am the master at games, hahahahahahahaha!

In December I played a game in the Far Cry series for the first time, Far Cry 3. We really liked the game and I beat it on the most difficult setting. It was hard at first but as I became more awesome with upgrades and better weapons, I became an unstoppable force sniping bad guys with the bow from more than 100 yards away. I disappointed myself if I set off any alarms while taking down an outpost and would usually revert to a previous save and try again. I really don’t know where I’m going with this so I will just jump into the new patch details. Read the rest of this article…

SimCity Servers Still Down – Rage Nearing Critical Levels

SimCity Servers Still Down – Rage Nearing Critical Levels

Sim City? More like Sim SHITTY, right now…Fix the servers!!!

Yeah, that’s right…The SimCity servers are still experiencing massive issues.

I downloaded the game earlier this evening, moved some stuff with Nick and Kelly and then settled in for din-dins, at which point I figured I’d fire up the game and start off building my city whilst I enjoyed a nice burger, smothered in jalapenos and tasty bacon.

Well, the burger was great. The game playing, however, is non existent.

‘Soda Drinker PRO’, A Game In Which You Drink Soda, Enters Steam Greenlight

It’s, like, art, man.

Tell me in advance if your mind can handle this: Soda Drinker PRO is an FPS (First-Person Soda) that might be far more of an existential meditation than you could ever possibly imagine. Someone up high was impressed enough to load it onto Steam’s Greenlight slate, a prestigious place for an indie developer because getting selected means being sold through the Steam store without a bunch of industry relations. If it gets picked up, a further 100 levels are promised. That’s right, that’s a total of 105 levels of soda-drinking ecstasy.

inXile Entertainment Bringing New ‘Torment’ RPG To Life Via Kickstarter, Will Demolish Goal Soon [UPDATED]

Some concept art from the new Torment, a peek into something grand.

I’m pretty sure the guys over at inXile Entertainment are just as blown away as I am. Comprised of many Interplay employees responsible for some of that company’s greatest role-playing games at the end of the nineties, including former Interplay CEO Brian Fargo, inXile set out today to raise funds for a new RPG based in the Planescape: Torment lineage, a game critically hailed for its deep narrative, called Torment: Tide of Numenera. Well, it’s not even 10AM at the FEZ Palace and it’s already over half-way to its $950,000 funding goal.

EA / BioWare Are Changing The SWTOR Login Process And They’ve Told Me About It 4 Times

THEY’RE HAUNTING ME!!

I don’t know what it is about these guys that makes them think they need to smash me with email after email every time they make a little change to the way they do things but they continue to do it.

I was told today, repeatedly, that EA is changing the way people are going to log in to SWTOR. I figure that since I got ALL THE EMAILS, other people may have missed theirs so I’ll share the info with you here.

Server Issues Causing ‘SimCity’ Woes, Because Of Course

Server Issues Causing ‘SimCity’ Woes, Because Of Course

Hrm.

I guess we should’ve seen this coming. I can’t think of a single major gaming release with a vital online component that’s been gone off without a hitch. While I’m sure Maxis’ Top Men have been working on this around the clock since SimCity‘s launch last night, it doesn’t bode well for many gamers like myself who had defended Electronic Arts’ decision to mandate an internet connection to play this game.
