Activists Decapitate Ronald McDonald Statue

Here’s one for the WTF category: A couple of artists in Helsinki kidnapped a Ronald McDonald statue from a local restaurant and made a video Al Qaeda style demanding McDonald’s to answer two simple question or they would behead the statue and put it on YouTube (videos after the jump).

  1. Why are you not open about the manufacturing process, raw materials and additives used in your products?
  2. How many tons of un-recycled waste you produce per year?

Arnold Schwarzenegger Movie Comeback!

It looks like the former Governor of California is looking to come back to movies. He said:

Exciting news. My friends at CAA have been asking me for 7 years when they can take offers seriously. Gave them the green light today.

I don’t know if this excites me but after watching the above video I order Last Action Hero, Total Recall and Red Heat all on Blu-Ray. I really wanted to get Kindergarten Cop but that’s not on Blu-Ray yet. As a bonus after the jump you can hear me doing my Arnie impersonation… Read the rest of this article…

Movie Review – Sanctum

Movie Review – Sanctum

Universal Picture’s “Sanctum” follows a small group of cave explorers who get trapped in a vast cave system after a monsoon floods most of the caverns with water. The film is in 3D, so it’s intended to be a thrilling and claustrophobic adventure. Are the walls closing in? Well, they are if you’re one of the unlucky people stuck in a theatre watching this spelunking dud…

New@Redbox Review: Middle Men

Let’s put it simply: this film is (purportedly) the story of how internet pornography came about. It starts out humbly enough: two idiots – Wayne and Buck (played by Giovanni Ribisi and Gabriel Macht) – come up with a great idea on how to quickly acquire new means of satisfying themselves via the internet (“Who pays for stuff on computers? That’ll never work!”) when their old VHS tapes just won’t do. Unfortunately, what begins as an exciting, coming-of-industry tale a la Pirates of Silicon Valley quickly becomes a case of an overly-ambitious film overreaching its grasp.

Nerds Rejoice – Zooey Deschanel In New Fox Pilot

Zooey Deschanel of Elf, (500) Days of Summer and nerd crushes everywhere has signed on to do a Fox comedy pilot. The show, currently without a name because the original title “Chicks and Dicks” was too awesome for Fox, will follow the ups and downs of a clumsy girl who moves in with three guys. If that isn’t a zany situation for comedy, I don’t know what is!

New@Redbox Review: Paranormal Activity 2

New@Redbox Review: Paranormal Activity 2

Seems like just yesterday that the hype for the original Paranormal Activity was at a fevered pitch. Produced on a microscopic budget and winning over Steven Spielberg, the film was released to an extremely small number of theaters. The viral marketing pushed people to ‘petition’ Paramount to get the “extremely scary” film in their town. Kelly and I went to screen it right as they began to open wide and our theater was packed clean to the aisles. The film eventually grossed over $100m and ended up displacing Saw as the go-to American horror franchise. So after all that hoopla, how does its sequel hold up?

The Internet Strikes Again!: Bankruptcy At Borders

Gosh darnit, internet, you’ve gone and ruined something else! Whether it was Hulu and television, Netflix and DVDs, Napster and music, or Amazon and its Kindle with tangible books, you’re just up to no good! Well, to be fair, this was pretty much Borders’ fault.

First X-Men: First Class Trailer!

Posted by: on February 10, 2011 at 10:47 pm

Gee, it’s about time. For a movie that’s only four months out, it seems like Fox is cutting it a little close promoting this film. It’s also a good thing, because this comes not long after some disastrous looking cast photos leaked out a few weeks ago.

Captain America and Why I’m Getting Tired of Comic Book Movies

Captain America and Why I’m Getting Tired of Comic Book Movies

If you watched Superbowl XLV, you probably saw the new trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger. Based on the comic from the 1940s, the film releases on July 22, 2011 and is the fifth independent production from Marvel Studios after Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2 and Thor.

Personally, the trailer doesn’t inspire more than mild disinterest from me. Is anyone else getting tired of all of these comic book movies?
