‘Strip Search’ Recap: Season 1, Episode 4 “Elimination #1”
Pick out your ideas Katie, for they will be your DOOM.
Our progress into the bowels of Penny Arcade’s Strip Search continues with the series’ first elimination round. In this episode, Alex and Katie must battle it out on massive Wacom Cintiqs to spare themselves from utter destruction.
‘The Master’ Review: Much Ado About Nothing
The Master amongst his adherents.
You’d think that a fictional film about the origins of (not) Scientology assembled by Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood) would be a ball straight out of the park. After a decade of references to Xenu and billion-year contracts, we can’t help but be intrigued by how such an interesting organization came to be. Anderson takes us, in a very thorough effort, to a time after World War II when an intellectual like The Master (Philip Seymour Hoffman) is more than happy to provide answers and comfort to those who need it most: everyone. What he doesn’t do is tell us much of an origin story.
The Day The (Star Wars) Animation Died: ‘Detours’ And ‘Clone Wars’ Suspended Indefinitely
Well, just continue to wait, then.
More heartbreak from the land of Lucasfilm as a corporate re-alignment is bringing LucasArts Animation to a grinding halt. As part of their big announcement today, Lucasfilm is winding down production on Clone Wars and putting the comedic (well, that will certainly vary) Detours, from the guys who make Robot Chicken, in some kind of Kessel Run where they’re trapped for more than twelve parsecs. Because, y’know, the Kessel Run involves a bunch of black holes, y’know?
Oz the Great and Powerful Review: Oz the Con Man
Has anyone honestly ever looked at The Wizard of Oz and claimed he or she wanted to see a prequel to it? Does anyone really care why the Wicked Witch of the West has green skin? Does anyone care why the Wizard of Oz chose to hide behind a curtain and portray himself as a giant disembodied head? I think part of the appeal of the original film is that it never attempted to explain anything, but Sam Raimi must have believed that exposing some of the mystery of the original film was a good idea, because here’s the movie that provides the answers to most of the questions no one ever bothered to ask.
‘Dead Man Down’ Review: Wasted Potential
Dead Man Down may be the most disappointing film I’ve experienced this year. No, it’s not disappointing because it’s a bad movie. I’ve seen considerably worse movies already this year. Dead Man Down disappoints because it fails to live up to its incredible potential.
‘Strip Search’ Recap: Season 1, Episode 3 “Burning That Bridge”
Artists Getting Scared sounds like a cool album, right?
Last we left our Strip Search buddies, they hadn’t really accomplished anything. Imported from all over the country for the chance to win big prizes and work with the Penny Arcade crew for a year, Strip Search is a fascinating show. Today, however, it was nice to see some actual blood being drawn. Not literal blood, just figurative blood.
Here’s How Christopher Nolan’s New Movie ‘Interstellar’ Is Going To Work
“Ya done figured out me movie, FleshEatingZipper! Well done, lads!” – Christopher Nolan
The big news in town today is that Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, a film that sat on Steven Spielberg’s plate for years before he finally passed it off, will be released on November 7th, 2014, meaning that the film is already well into production. A science-fiction movie that appears to be taking its science very seriously, Interstellar will purportedly explore wormholes, black holes and, well, interstellar travel. This seems pretty incredible considering the genre has been buried in the post/apocalypse for years, so it’s nice to see a new spin. Who best to do it than Christopher “Batman” Nolan, but there are key notes in the construction of his films that make Interstellar out as a puzzle already solved.
New ‘After Earth’ Trailer Still Hasn’t Won Me Over On Shyamalan’s Fresh Prince Connection
Don’t cry Will Smith, at least you’re not in Devil. Or The Last Airbender, or The Happening, or…
In this second trailer to M. Night Shyamalan’s new sci-fi action thriller After Earth, we see a bit more of the juicy relational bits that are supposed to make us sympathize with an injured father tasked with sitting in a chair. Of course, watching that wouldn’t be terribly exciting, so the movie instead focuses on his efforts to guide his son through a hundred kilometers of wild post-human Earth, complete with The Day After Tomorrow-esque snap freezes and animals that couldn’t possibly exist a measly thousand years after humans depart.
Kevin Smith Started Writing ‘Clerks III’ This Morning
Featuring: weed and beers.
I may be able to forgive Kevin Smith for his recent films. Cop Out was terrible, Red State was even worse. What happens when Kevin Smith steps out of his comfort zone and starts making action films or whatever he was trying to do with those films? Only bad things. What happens when he starts writing the third film in the Clerks series? Only good things, we hope!
Check Out The First Trailer to The Hangover Part III
The Wolfpack is back!
Ah, The Hangover series. The first movie was great because it was different. The second movie not so much because it wasn’t different. We were told that the final installment, The Hangover Part III might be different but we still groan every time the movie is brought up. The sad thing is that no matter what we would still go see it as would a bunch of other people. Read the rest of this article…
