SimCity Requires Internet Connection At All Times, Will Not Let You Save Cities Without It

All this can be yours… if you don’t lose your wireless signal.

Reddit is currently running an AMA (Ask Me Anything) with members of SimCity’s development team over at Maxis where they respond to questions from the community-at-large. The biggest revelation? Your copy of SimCity will need to be permanently connected to the internet or you’ll lose your city save. A terrible thing or overblown dramatics?

‘Knights & Dragons: Rise of the Dark Prince’ (iOS) Review: A Medieval Blast Or Another Microtransactional Blunder?

Attack this generic looking dragon!

It seems like everyone is trying to cash in on developing microtransaction games these days. Gree, a mobile social gaming company who you’ve probably never heard of, released Knights & Dragons: Rise of the Dark Prince, a game you’ve also probably never heard of until now. I was lucky enough to snag a digi copy a few days prior. Will it be able to hold its own in an already over populated genre?

FBI Director Missing? What Does This Mean?!

FBI Director Missing? That can’t be good!

I’m really not sure what the hell is going on here but we got a press release from the Boston Oracle, today, talking about the disappearance of the FBI Director from Boston, Mass., Madison Davies.

The release has a number of links which all point to various Facebook pages, seemingly to those of people and places which are covered in the release…Clues, perhaps?

All in all, the whole thing is quite mysterious so we’ve gone ahead and included the entire release so all of you can dig in and maybe help us figure out what is happening.

New SimCity Trailer Reveals Cities Working Together, How To Enlist Your Friends

SimCasino, a wretched hive of scum and villainy…

The sooner I get my hands on this new SimCity, the better. Maxis has just revealed a more nuanced look at how they plan to approach play between multiple cities. SimCity 4 featured a primitive version of this, but how next year’s SimCity handles is unique because of how the game handles individual simulations. Let’s dive in, I’ve got the video below!

Holy Patch Notes! Planetside 2 Gets “Game Update 1”

Big, BIG patch incoming.

Planetside 2 got a massive update today, in the form of a big patch which went live at 0600 PST.

I’m not going to lead this off with a whole lot of hoo-ha or make a big deal about leading in to the patch notes. I’m just going to say “read on, you’ll be a while”.

THQ Gives You Metro 2033 For Only Liking Their Facebook Page

Can’t beat free!

The title pretty much says it all. At the end of November there was a THQ Humble Bundle (still until 12/13) that included Metro 2033 and if you missed it or you don’t care for paying for games or for charity (you’re mean!) you can get Metro 2033 from THQ for free. All you have to do is like them on Facebook by going to FreeMetroGame.com. This is only good until the 16th so you better not delay. Also, while supplies last, whatever that means since it a digital download…

Man The Lifeboats! It’s An MMO Tidal Wave!

THIS MMO, isn’t coming soon…It actually got deleted by the developer. OOPS!!

Man, oh man. I was doing some research today and got a look at all of the MMO’s that are coming up in the near future…When I took stock of everything that’s happening in the Massively Multiplayer Online world, I have to admit that I got a little happy and a little sad at the same time.

Boy, there’s a lot coming up . Unfortunately that means that there’s going to be some losers out there and that kinda sucks.

‘Primordia’ Review: You Are ‘Safe’ Here…

See through the eyes of a sentient robot…

In a world where machines carry on the legacy of Mankind, what could be more interesting then realizing the flukes in logic when logic becomes oppressive and emotionless, and faith a relic of a half-destroyed, post-apocalyptic world? Well, Primordia hopes to give one tentative example of one robot’s quest to regain his ship’s power core, while uncovering the remnants of Man’s fall into extinction. Read the rest of this article…

Far Cry 3 (Xbox 360) Review: A Tropical Sandbox Worth Fighting For

Far Cry 3 (Xbox 360) Review: A Tropical Sandbox Worth Fighting For

Awwww, he’s so adorable! When he’s, y’know, not trying to murder you and your friends.

I’m going to describe a game and I want you to guess what it is. You’re an out-of-water American stuck in a civil conflict set in an archipelago of tropical islands in southeast Asia. You fall on the side of the insurgency against a corrupt, oppressive regime that dresses in bright red and sports a white star for a logo. The world is a sandbox, allowing you to tackle objectives in any order, including knocking over and claiming enemy outposts, vehicle races, and a series of scripted story-based missions that feel out of place compared to the fun you’re having out in the jungle. If you guessed 2009’s Just Cause 2, you’d be right. If you happened to guess Far Cry 3, you’d also be correct. Far Cry 3 lacks the over-the-top zaniness of zip-lining and parachuting through a tropical paradise, but where it lacks that game’s comic fantasy, it’s a far more intimate, more tightly structured game that improves on the gaggle of systems introduced in its predecessor.
